The 43rd Torino Film Festival is ready to welcome one of the greatest icons of world cinema: Juliette Binoche. The Academy Award®-winning French actress, known for unforgettable films such as The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The English Patient, and Chocolat, will attend the festival — running from November 21 to 29 — to present the Italian premiere of In-I in Motion, her first film as a director.
Not only is Binoche behind the camera for the first time, but she also stars in the documentary, which revisits her daring artistic journey with choreographer Akram Khan. The film draws from their 2008 worldwide stage production In-I, when Binoche stepped away from cinema to embrace the challenging and unfamiliar world of contemporary dance.
In recognition of her remarkable career, Juliette Binoche will also be awarded the Stella della Mole, the festival’s honorary prize celebrating outstanding contributions to international cinema.
“It will be a great honor to welcome Juliette Binoche,” said festival director Giulio Base. “Her immense talent embodies elegance and passion, fragility and strength, beauty and mystery. Her presence will turn Torino into the beating heart of this magic.”
With Juliette Binoche at center stage, the Torino Film Festival once again proves itself as a landmark event for auteur cinema and international artistic creativity.
