World Premiere at the FrightFest 2014 for the short movie Goblin?
Goblin? is a seven minutes long thriller that has as main characters The Borgias’ couple David Oakes (Love by Design, The White Queen) and Holliday Grainger (The Riot Club, Great Expectations).
Written by Matt Brothers, directed by Christian James and produced by Emma Biggins the movie was among the most acclaimed of the day.
Funny and irreverent Goblin? tells about Liz (Holliday Grainger), a businesswoman who arrives home to discover that the entire house is a mess and to find, in the room at the top of the staircase, her useless boyfriend Harry (David Oakes) cowering in the corner of the bedroom, claiming to have captured a goblin and stuck it in the cupboard. The argument that arises within the couple and that quickly leads to the conclusion of the short movie is brilliant, refined by the two terrifically talented actors.
Speaking of the couple, the writer said on his Tumblr’s page: “Having David Oakes and Holliday Grainger on board has instantly upped even my own anticipation of the film. They’re both incredibly gifted actors, with a shared working history from their time on ‘The Borgias’, that helped both their chemistry on screen and also the shoot itself – their short hand and comfort around each other meant we could really crack on. About 75% of the film is a back and forth between their two characters (Liz and Harry) and they were running through the entire exchange before we’d even worked out how to break it down and block it. Really amazing. Holly brought such an exasperated frustration to her role that made it impossible not to laugh, especially when paired with David’s drained but desperate Harry.”
GOBLIN? IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DISTRIFY HERE with a donation for the Brit Lung Foundation.
In the meanwhile David Oakes is a stunning Kit Marlowe on stage at the Noel Coward Theatre in Shakespeare in Love (until October 25th).
And Holliday Grainger will be on the big screen as Max Irons love interest (from September 19th in the UK) in The Riot Club (World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th).
