The Legend of Barney Thomson by Robert Carlyle wins the Prix du Public as Best Film at the 13th Montecarlo Film Festival de la Comedie.

The Scottish director, best known for his roles as actor in 28 Weeks Later, Trainspotting and recently as Mr. Gold in the acclaimed TV series Once Upon A Time wins the favor of the French audience with an usual Scottish comedy and a well known cast.

The Legend of Barney Thomson, tells the story of Barney Thomson indeed (Robert Carlyle himself) an awkward and diffident Glasgow barber who lives a life of desperate mediocrity. His uninteresting life is about to go from 0 to 60 in five seconds, as he enters the grotesque and comically absurd world of the serial killer.

In the cast, alongside Carlyle also Emma Thompson as Cemolina, Ray Winstone (Point Break, Noah) as Holdall and Kevin Guthrie (Sunset Song, Sunshine on Leith) as MacPherson.

Released in Uk cinemas on July 2015, The Legend of Barney Thomson already won two BAFTA Scottish Award as Best Feature Film and with Emma Thompson as Best Actress.
