BBC One has unveiled the trailer for three-part Andrea Levy adaptation The Long Song. Set to premiere on Tuesday December 18th, The Long Song is set during the final days of slavery in 19th century Jamaica and tells the story of the strong-willed, young slave July on a plantation owned by her odious mistress Caroline Mortimer (Hayley Atwell, Captain America, Agent Carter). When a charming new arrival to the island, Robert Goodwin (Jack Lowden, Dunkirk, War and Peace), becomes the new overseer, July and Caroline are both intrigued by his seemingly revolutionary determination to improve the plantation for the slaves and mistress alike.
Hayley Atwell and Jack Lowden just finished their extraordinary run at Donmar in Measure for Measure.
